Challenges
The last panel is carrying a lot of responsibility! I wanted to convey a time skip and then also tell the story through the reactions of the characters. This would also reveal their relationship, as well some cheating with the hands (which I tried to draw attention to with the lighting). This was really hard.
Rewards
The third panel was so much fun. I remember the first time I saw Higurashi no naku koro ni and being equal parts confused and shitting my pants. I also felt jealous of artists who were able to pilfer facial expressions like those, and now I get to do it too.
